The ingredients needed to make Tofu/awara:
  1. Make ready Soya beans
  2. Prepare Sour water(ruwan tsari)
  3. Get Oil for frying
  4. Take Sauce
  5. Make ready 2 red pepper
  6. Prepare 5 scotch bonnets
  7. Prepare Spring onions
  8. Make ready to taste Seasonings
  9. Take Salt
  10. Take 2 tblspn oil

Awara/Tofu is the result of the coagulation of soy milk using coagulants such as tamarind juice. The curds are then pressed into solid white/off white blocks. Traditionally it is chopped and then fried in. Tofu/awara/soyabeans cake is a nutritious food that can serve as a meal as well as a snack.

Instructions to make Tofu/awara:
  1. Wash and Soak soya beans for 1hour
  2. After an hour wash,sieve and grind until well ground
  3. Add more water to the paste and sieve in a big pot as we are using the milk color extract,rinse until the water comes out clear
  4. Place the pot on fire and allow to boil…when it boils add in the sour water gradually you will notice it to foam clots add more sour water until the water become light in yellow
  5. Sieve it using a clean kitchen cloth(also known dankwalin tata) always use for sieving then you tie it up not too hard
  6. Ready to serve and ENJOY!

Traditionally it is chopped and then fried in. Tofu/awara/soyabeans cake is a nutritious food that can serve as a meal as well as a snack. Its made from soyabeans which has a very high protein content. Good for all kids and adults alike. Cut your awara into desired shapes, season and fry.
