To begin with this particular recipe, we have to first prepare a few components. You can have tofu (awara) using 8 ingredients and 4 steps. Here is how you cook that.

The ingredients needed to make Tofu (Awara):
  1. Prepare Soy beans (16tins)
  2. Get Sour water (ruwan tsami)
  3. Prepare Palm oil (3tbspn)
  4. Get Pepper crush
  5. Make ready Scotch bonnet crush
  6. Get Onion crush
  7. Get Salt
  8. Prepare Veg oil

Awara/Tofu is the result of the coagulation of soy milk using coagulants such as tamarind juice. The curds are then pressed into solid white/off white blocks. Traditionally it is chopped and then fried in. *Water. Cut your awara into desired shapes, season and fry.

Steps to make Tofu (Awara):
  1. Wash and soak your soy beans for and 1hr then grind it, add palm oil and sieve the paste in a pot add water to the paste to get all the milk out
  2. Place the pot on a fire, when the milk starts boiling and foaming then Sprinkles the sour water on it gradually and watch it starts coagilating then drop from fire and drain the water with your sieve cloth
  3. Add your crush pepper, Scotch bonnet and onion then squeeze harder and place any heavy thing on it for and 1hr
  4. Remove the tofu from the cloth and cut into chunks, in a bowl add water and some salt or maggi or ajino, then add in your chunks tofu and soak for 5-10mnts, fry in hot oil till golden brown
  5. Ready to serve and ENJOY!

Traditionally it is chopped and then fried in. *Water. Cut your awara into desired shapes, season and fry. Tofu/awara/soyabeans cake is a nutritious food that can serve as a meal as well as a snack. Its made from soyabeans which has a very high protein content. Good for all kids and adults alike.
