The ingredients needed to make Fried Tofu Soup:
  1. Get 1 pc big square tofu
  2. Make ready 1 handful sliced Asian meatballs (optional)
  3. Make ready 1 handful chopped greens (optional)
  4. Make ready 1 tbsp chopped garlic sauteed with 1 tsp oil
  5. Make ready 2 tbsp scallions
  6. Get 600 ml water (for the soup)
  7. Take Chicken powder, salt and pepper, light soy sauce (to taste)
  8. Take Dry rice vermicelli or if you prefer, steamed rice (optional)
  9. Take Hot water for soaking the vermicelli

  1. Make the tofu earlier: cut the square tofu into 4 triangles, fry until golden brown. Let cool, store in fridge.
  2. Soak the dry rice vermicelli in hot water. Cover until it’s softened. Drain, put in bowls. Season with light soy sauce. Set aside.
  3. Boil the water, add sauteed garlic, chicken powder, salt and pepper.
  4. Add tofu and meatballs. Boil for a minute or two. Add the chopped greens and scallions.
  5. Serve hot over rice vermicelli or steamed rice.
  6. Ready to serve and ENJOY!

And so here is my first tofu dish. It’s inspired by something I ate once in Vietnam. Directions To prepare the soup, in a saucepan over medium-low heat, combine the vegetable broth, ginger, sugar, rice vinegar, soy sauce, oyster sauce and sambal. Crush half the garlic. • Tofu comes in different densities, ranging from soft to extra-firm. Soft is better for purées or some soups and stews, while firm is better for frying and baking.
